Anti-Inflammatory Latte Recipes
Sep 09, 2024I Love You A Latte!
It's getting cooler and thought I would share a couple drink options that are ITIS, Paleo and AIP approved for fighting inflammation and great swaps for a latte to go-go. I even have a pumpkin-spice add-on (tis the season).
While coffee has a lot of health benefits (and is one of the first things reintroduced when following an elimination diet to reduce symptoms), people often have problems with the caffeine!
I'll do a separate blog on caffeine and swaps, but in summary, you should be mindful of caffeine when:
- You have a thyroid or adrenal condition (hypo, hyper, Hashi's, Graves)
- Extreme fatigue
- Digestive issues (especially rapid release)
- And other conditions like psoriasis, eczema, POTS, menopause
Okay, let's talk solutions! Here are two that I love a latte.
Golden Turmeric Latte (ITIS, Paleo, AIP)
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Ginger (grated)
- 1 cup Organic Coconut Milk (canned)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tsp Turmeric (powder)
- 1 tbsp Raw Honey
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsps Coconut Oil
- Dash of ground pepper
To make this into a Pumpkin Spice Nice Blend, add:
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (not AIP compliant)
Preparation
- Grate the ginger then squeeze the juice out of it into a saucepan. Discard the pulp. Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and place over medium heat. Heat through for about 3 to 5 minutes, not letting it come to a boil. Whisk continuously.
- Carefully transfer into a mason jar and seal with a lid. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, or until a foam starts to form. (Note: You can also use a blender for this step, but the turmeric can stain the blender cup.) Pour into glasses through a sieve and enjoy!
Next up ... Caffeine Free Chai Latte (ITIS, Paleo)
Ingredients
- 1 bag of rooibos chai tea (rooibos is naturally caffeine-free)
- 2 cups of boiling water
- 1 tablespoon tahini
- 1 tablespoon almond butter (creamy is preferred)
- 2 dates (optional)
Preparation
- Cover the teabag and dates (if using) with 2 cups of boiling water and steep for a few minutes.
- Discard the tea bag & place tea, soaked dates, tahini & almond butter into a blender.
- Blend until creamy.
- Serve and Enjoy!
Tip: You can try this with other nut or seed butters to see which flavour combination you like the best.
